Hazel's chapeaux

I've been getting emails asking for the much-anticipated resolution to last week's pediatrician visit. It turns out Jake and I were both wrong - Hazel weighed 11 pounds 12 ounces, but that's enough to put her in the 79th percentile. She was in the 81st percentile for height and the 69th percentile for head circumference, for what it's worth. She got her 4 vaccinations, screamed through them like a champ, then promptly fell asleep.

Far and away the best part of the doctor's visit, though, was when we were waiting in the lobby before the appointment. An old, sweet-looking, white-haired woman walked by with her teenage grandson, and she paused to admire Hazel who was sitting in her car seat on one of the couches. Two minutes later she came back and handed me two quarters, "for her piggybank." We told her Hazel's name, and she said "Oh good, I'm just glad it's not Brianne or something, ugh."

Also, Hazel got two new hats last week. The first is a pretty white sun hat with three blue fish from Mormor, for the beach. The second is a white Hanna Andersson sun bonnet. Hazel is not too sure she likes these hats.
